The future we are working toward

A household where nobody is afraid, in every community we can reach. We are working toward a point where a survivor in Texas or in Harare can raise their hand once and find a trained response, a safe bed and a person who stays with them until the danger has passed.

Our first obligation is to the person who contacts us this week. That means a reply the same day, a safety conversation, a warm referral rather than a phone number, and follow-up until the immediate danger has passed.

Build the network so nobody relies on one person

A foundation that depends on a single advocate helps a handful of families. A foundation that trains other people multiplies. The next stage of this work is training and partnership.

Recognising-abuse training for congregations, clinics, schools and employers
A trained volunteer corps for accompaniment, transport and childcare
Formal partnerships with shelters, legal aid and health providers on both continents
A men's and elders' pathway, because those doors are the thinnest in the whole system

The horizon

Change what happens after someone reports

The long work is systemic: a survivor should not need luck to meet a good officer, a good nurse or a good judge. We want the response to be reliable whoever is on duty.

Safe housing capacity we can call on directly, including transitional accommodation
Economic recovery support: employment, credit repair and financial independence
Prevention work with boys, young men and faith leaders, upstream of the harm
Published data and case learning that helps other organisations do this better
A sustained presence in Southern Africa with local staff, not visitors

How we intend to work

The promises behind the plan

The survivor decides. We advise, we never overrule.

Confidentiality is absolute unless a life or a child is at risk.

No one is turned away over gender, age, faith, status or history.

We measure what we do and we publish it honestly, including what did not work.

Every dollar is accounted for, and unrestricted giving goes to survivors first.
